About Lauren

Lauren J. Mapp is a journalism student in San Diego, CA preparing to transfer to San Diego State University in the fall 2014 semester.

Mapp is a former editor-in-chief of The Mesa Press, where she took photographs and wrote articles in many fields, including foodpoliticsdancecampus issuessex trafficking. During her four semesters on staff, she also learned to do layout through InDesign and create informational graphics.

She was also a staff writer and photographer for both Indian Time and The People's Voice, two weekly newspapers in Akwesasne, NY, and was the co-editor-in-chief of The Beacon her senior year, a student newspaper for Burncoat Senior High School.

She grew up in Worcester, MA, making her the avid Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics fan that she is today. In her free time, Lauren likes to take dance lessons (primarily East Coast swing, Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, Bal Swing and ballet); try new restaurants; read; watch sports; cook and travel.
